According to Deadline, the Harry andMeghan documentary was supposed to premiere in December, but was delayed due to the backlash to The Crown.

Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, executives felt it would be foolish to release two controversial projects involving the British royal family.

John Major, the former British Prime Minister, was upset by a rumored storyline in the first episode of the fifth season of The Crown.

In the show, Charles will attempt to force his mother to abdicate the throne so he can take over as king, and will hold a secret meeting with Major to ask the prime minister for his support.

According to The Guardian, a spokesman for Major denied that Charles ever raised the topic of ousting his mother with Major.

The show is a fictional dramatization that imagines what may have happened behind closed doors and has already been scrutinized and well- documented by journalists, biographers and historians.

The upcoming season of The Crown will follow Charles' life in the 1990s when his marriage to his first wife, Princess Diana, broke down. While Charles was still married to Diana, the fourth season of the series talked about an affair between Charles and his wife. After the season began, posts from the royal family's social media accounts were targeted by online troll leaving pro-Diana comments, in a wave that some media outlets linked to The Crown created new Diana fans of a younger generation.

Tangent

After stepping down as senior working members of the royal family in 2020, Harry andMeghan have signed exclusive deals with streaming services. It has been reported that Harry's memoir will be pushed back until 2023. Some in the U.K. are uneasy about the couple's media deals because they may reveal too much about the royal family's private life. Last year, the couple's bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey reportedly sparked tension within the family after the Sussexes alleged relatives made racist comments about their unborn child's skintone. Buckingham Palace said that the family was sad by the allegations and that they would be addressed privately.

Key Background

After the death of the queen, interest in the series and other royal media increased. The show has come under fire before, and last year the U.K. Culture Secretary said the show's creators should be more transparent about the creative liberties they take when portraying private moments.

"Rattled" is a delayed documentary on Harry andMeghan.

There has been an increase in interest in The Crown and other Royal Media.

U.K. culture official says that "The Crown" should include a statement that it's fiction.
