According to a note from the labor group, the pilot union is trying to get federal mediation in contract negotiations with American Airlines.
The Allied Pilots Association said in a message to pilots last week that its board unanimously approved a motion for the union to prepare an application for National Mediation Board intervention in its talks with the company.
More than three months after American CEO Robert Isom offered pilots 17% raises in a new contract proposal, the union is considering requesting intervention from the National Mediation Board.
Major pilot groups around the U.S., which include those at Southwest, United, Delta and FedEx, have struggled to reach agreements as they seek pay increases amid high inflation and better schedules.
Groups are turning to mediation. The pilots for those carriers have been out on the picket line.
Dennis Tajer said that compensation and some working conditions are still up in the air.
Alaska Airlines said Monday that its pilots members have voted to approve a new three-year contract that includes wage increases of up to 23%.
American didn't say anything. Before the market opens on Thursday, the carrier will report quarterly results.
