According to a source, the Washington Commanders quarterback will have an operation on his ring finger on Monday in Los Angeles, but the team is not sure how long he will be out.

If he is placed on injured reserve, he will have to sit out at least four games.

There was a fractured finger in Washington's win over the Bears. Heinicke would become the starter. The primary backup would be a fifth-round pick.

Washington plays the Green Bay Packers.

The finger on his right hand was hit by the arm of Bears defensive lineman Justin Jones. The player shook his hand after the play and on the drive. He kept playing the game.

In six games, the Eagles quarterback has thrown for 1,489 yards and 10 touchdown passes, which is fifth in the league, with six turnovers. The total QBR of 36.0 is 27th in the league.

The team gave up three picks and a choice in the second round. If Wentz plays 70% of Washington's offensive snaps, the Commanders will give him a second-round pick.

The offense needs a spark. The Commanders scored 55 points in the first two games, but only 47 the rest of the way.

The quarterback has been sacked more times than any other player in the league.
