Herschel Walker admitted for the first time this week that he gave his ex-girlfriend a $700 check but denied that it was for an abortion.
After being shown an image of a receipt from an abortion clinic and a check with his alleged signature during an interview with NBC News that aired Monday, Walker confirmed "that's my check," but continued to call the allegations a lie.
He said the check was irrelevant because he had a child with the woman and it could have been used for other reasons.
The Georgia Senate candidate denied that he was abusive towards his ex- wife and son.
Walker said he loves his family and doesn't have any violence.
Walker said that voters in Georgia would believe him because he has been very transparent. I wrote a book about everything I've done, but I've never hid anything.
Walker said that if he needed Trump to campaign with him, he'd come. In the wake of the abortion controversy, Trump came to Walker's defense.
Two weeks ago, the Daily Beast reported that Walker, who is running in a key race that could determine which party controls the Senate, had a child with a woman he was dating in 2009, and asked her to get an abortion. According to the report, Walker paid $700 for the procedure, which was for a rape, incest or medical danger case. The woman told several outlets that Walker again urged her to have an abortion, but she declined. Walker said it was a "hatchet job" from a Democrat. Christian criticized his father for having four kids with four different women but not being around to raise them in a series of posts on social media. Recent weeks have seen renewed allegations from Walker's ex- wife. Walker denied to NBC News that he held a gun to her head and held a razor to her throat, but claimed he did not remember.
Recent polling shows that the Georgia Senate race is neck-and- neck, with a slight lead for Walker after August polling showed a slight lead for him.
