There is some sad news. After a long battle with cancer, Nick Berry, the British data scientist who wrote DataGenetics, has died.

Nick was a Yorkshire man who studied Aeronautical Engineering. He worked as a data scientist for companies such as Microsoft and Facebook. DataGenetics got a huge following for its accessible posts about interesting topics in mathematics, physics and computer science.

Nick had a gift for good subject matter and a constant joy in it. He liked puzzles. Permission was granted for today's challenges to be taken from his website.

This is the first thing. No-heroes.

There are two Lucy has a secret Number.

Lucy is talking to her friend at a party. Lucy mentioned that she has a secret number.

The number is describable by the answers to the following questions.

She whispers the answers to her friend. Because of the noise at the party, you only hear the answer to one question. The secret number can be determined if you know this one answer. You hear the answer to that question. Lucy's secret number is unknown.

There are three. The math elves are naughty.

The numbers are written on a chalkboard. The numbers are written once.

A group of elves visit the board at night. elf selects two numbers at random, erases them, and replaces them with a new number that is the absolute difference of the two numbers erased

There is only one number left after all the vandals have done their damage.

I found the single number of the board after returning to the board. The remaining number is odd or even.

The answers and solutions will be available at 5pm UK.
