I like to vacuum. I can't keep our floors mess-free without one of our dogs.

I love them so much that I am willing to ignore all sorts of problems. Regular maintenance is required. You will have to clean your floors. My children know how to set robot vacuum booby traps. They do occasionally get stuck, and the clean isn't as deep as a handheld push vacuum would be.

For the past six months, all the problems have vanished. I have had robot vacuums running continuously for about five years and the Roborock Q+ has been the least hassle and maintenance that I have ever had with a robot vacuum. The Q+ stays even as other vacuums go away. It isn't the most innovative in terms of features or specifications, but it's the one I can't do without.

It is better to be simple.

Roborock is a new brand compared to old-timers such as the Roomba. They have gotten better since I started testing them. The prices of Roborock vacuums are similar to those of some of the most well-known and reliable manufacturers.

The premium Q7 and S7 MaxV Ultra are not included in the Q5 vacuum. It's not as powerful as the premium models, but it's still $460 without the dock. The Rockdock Auto-Empty Pure has a separate chamber for an air filter. I could not get the auto-empty function to work on the dock that I also had on hand.

The easier the robot, the better. The Q5+ is indistinguishable from other robot vacuums I have tested. It doesn't have a mop. The dock is easy to setup and use. I put the cleaning tool in the auto-empty vacuum bag because the deep handle isn't meant to be used for storing it.

The vacuum is not really special. It is small enough to fit under our couches. It was easy to set up the robot vacuum and connect to the internet. I had to change the bands of wi-fi so a vacuum could connect. The app has become simpler to use.

The dust bin and air filters are easy to remove from the buttons on top. When they get dusty, the sensors along the bottom and front can be wiped off. The roller on the bottom has a brush, but it is easy to cut off my daughter's and my hair when it gets wrapped around. You can find arrows to help you replace the roller cover.

These are not small things. Many robot vacuums are hard to maintain. It's difficult to remove the dust bin from the vacuum. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to replace the roller cover when my daughter and I have long hair. It's very easy to maintain the Q5+.

A mapping master.

Lidar and lasers are used in the Q5+ series. The premium Roborock S7 model uses camera-based navigation to help identify obstacles in the house. I was happy with the fact that there were less mobile cameras in my house.

My family moved to a house that most robot vacuums can't navigate, and many have simply pooped out halfway through. The Q5+ vacuum is the only one that has been able to clean the entire floor. The corner was left untouched for a few weeks.
