The Dallas Cowboys will play the Detroit Lions next week, and quarterback Dak Prescott wants to return from a broken thumb.

As he walked to the team bus after the Cowboys' loss to the Eagles, he said he had a plan. I need to see the doctor, but that's my plan.

After suffering an injury in the season opener, Dallas' quarterback has missed the last five games. He was looking at a recovery time of four to six weeks. He took snaps for the first time last week and was listed as a limited participant in Thursday's practice. Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy wanted him to go through a full week of practice before he came back.

"I want to get my full week of practice this week," he said.

Running back Qadree Ollison, wide receiver Brandon Smith, and Dennis Houston, as well as practice squad wide receiver Brandon Smith, worked out together before the game. Washington did not run routes as he continued to recover from foot surgery. McCarthy and Will were at the throwing session.

He wears tape on his thumb just for comfort.

Over the last couple of days, it was just as planned. It felt as good as it did. Just on course.

Cooper Rush was picked off three times by Philadelphia, including twice in the first half, as the Eagles raced out to a 20-0 lead. Rush finished with 181 yards on 18-of-38 passing with one touchdown and helped the Cowboys cut the lead to 20-23 early in the fourth quarter.

He praised Rush and the team.

"I didn't have any doubt that the team would do what they just did." I'm very positive. A lot of the guys on this team know what Cooper can do. I was disappointed that I couldn't be with the guys over the last five weeks. We can get rolling and we are excited to move forward.

It's great when you get your starting quarterback back. He has done a lot for us this year. After the first game, we talked about how we need to right the ship while No. 4 is out. Coop answered the bell. He did a good job. He'll be ready to go when he's ready.

In Rush's five starts, the Cowboys scored 25 points or less. The third-down offense has been a problem. The Cowboys were able to win with a turnover-free offense, a solid running game and a defense that did not allow more than 19 points.

The Dallas running back said they were ready to get four back. It will be good to get him back if he is healthy.

How good can the offense be when the quarterback returns?

"Sky's the Limit," Lamb said. Everyone knows that the offense is great. We're going to show everyone when he comes back.

He has not been frustrated despite wanting an earlier return.

The bone didn't have the same plan as me. That was me being eager. It was the same as what the doctor's plans were. The plan is to go next week and see if I can get it done.
