It's finally here! The ice planet of Hoth will be the location of the Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar this year, as it will serve as the backdrop for a snowy confrontation between Vader andluke. With five minifigures, including snow troopers and R2-D2 in a Christmas jumper, it is great to see the calendar embrace its most wintry settings.
There is a great selection of mini-ships to build, from Snowspeeders to Tie-Fighters, as well as a mini version of the cave thatluke finds himself hanging from when captured by the Empire Strikes Back. We think a smart builder can recreate the creature with the included pieces. It was a return to form after last year's poor set.
Disney has a big-budget Guardians Holiday Special episode lined up for its Disney Plus streaming service. By the end of the year, you will be stuck with the ragtag gang of space heroes.
The quality of the sets six (six!) minifigures, including fan favorites Star-Lord, Rocket, Groot, Mantis, and Drax, make the Lego advent calendar the best one yet. There is a lot of humor in this set, like seeing Groot dressed up as a christmas tree and Rocket cooking turkey. There are fewer opportunities to rebuild with the pieces tucked behind the doors of this set.
This year's Lego City advent calendar has everything you need to make your Legoland into a movie set. What's the name of Santa? Check to see if it's true. Are you talking about a snowman? Check to see if it's true. Is there a christmas tree? Check to see if it's true. The organ is candle-lit. Check to make sure. The Lego City TV show has a lot of props and animals in it.
It is the most festive of all the sets this year and is a great option for someone not a fan of the themed sets surrounding it. It is a good starting point for a Lego player.
The Lego Friends range is back with a calendar that feels like it could be from Santa's workshop. Popping with color and toys for your friends figures, it is a mini celebration.
Santa is slim here in the Lego Friends world, and could use a bit of food before next year. The set as a whole features less pieces than last year, and Santa who has been slim, is not the only one.
This year's Lego Harry Potter Advent Calendar may be the best of the bunch after a disappointing set last year. It is designed so that every three days you can get enough figures and build to create an icon from each of the books and films.
The best Harry Potter calendar Lego has made so far is the one without the Fantastic Beasts characters. A treat for people who want to be wizards.
