Bills' Jordan Poyer travels to Chiefs game by van due to rib injury

It takes 15 hours from New York to Kansas City by car, a distance of over 1000 miles.

According to a source, Jordan Poyer was not medically cleared to fly due to a collapsed lung, so he traveled back and forth between Buffalo and Kansas City. Poyer was allowed to play, but doctors weren't comfortable with the air pressure that comes with flying as he recovers from the injury, a source said.

Poyer and his family were taken to and from Kansas City in a van. The All-Pro safety had four tackles in the game.

Poyer said it's good that they got the win going into the bye week. I have to get everybody healthy again and then I have to go against the Packers.

The injury that Poyer sustained in the fourth quarter of the Baltimore Ravens game was listed on the team's injury report as being to his ribs. Poyer said he got the wind knocked out of him. He practiced fully on Friday after missing Buffalo's Week 5 win over the PittsburghSteelers.

"You want to go into a season, but you also want to go throughout the year without any injuries," Poyer said last week. "Just fighting through them, and luckily, we have a great team of trainers that allow me to get back on the field and perform at my best."

Poyer is expected to be cleared to fly soon. The Bills' bye week in Week 7 and a home game against Green Bay the following week will help him.

Poyer was asked about the bye week after the contest.

The Bills will play at the New York Jets in November.

During his time as the quarterback of the Houston Texans, he had to take a 12-hour bus ride to get to a game due to rib and lung injuries, and he also played in that game.

Poyer is set to become a free agent and requested a contract extension during the off-season. After Week 1, the Bills added some incentives to Poyer's contract, including for on-field production.

The Bills will be without Hyde for the rest of the season after he had back surgery. Hamlin has started.

In only four games, Poyer is tied for the league lead with four picks. He didn't play in Buffalo's Week 3 loss to the Miami Dolphins because of a foot injury.
