According to a report from Deadline, Comcast is shutting down G4 after trying to revive the channel. The last studio shows were axed in 2012 and it was replaced by the Esquire Network.

In an internal memo obtained by Deadline, Dave Scott, the CEO of the Spectacor division, said that the channel had not achieved sustainable financial results and that it would be shutting down.

The people who worked for G4 learned about the shutdown from the initial reports and then received Scott's message.

Scott wrote that the decision to stop G4's operations was difficult and that it was not what they hoped for.

Last year, G4 was back on several networks. Attack of the Show, Xplay, and Ninja Warrior were among the shows that made their debut. Before it returned to linear television, the company had a multi-year agreement with twitch where it hosted occasional streams.

The human resources team will reach out to staffers on the G4 team to discuss other opportunities.
