You can see the expression on Norman Reedus's face as he glares at Eugene.
That is the same expression I make whenever Eugene is on screen, blubbering or pontificating in his endless inventive way of speaking. The story of Eugene and Max being deceived by a fake version of their love interest is ridiculous and strange.
I don't buy into the idea of sparks flying between this pair. There is no chemistry between the two characters.

Eugene is not a believable love interest and Max is a new character who I have never been able to connect with. In a moment, more on her.
Eugene and Max have taken center stage again in the current Commonwealth plot, having secretly recorded Sebastian Milton (Teo Rapp-Olsson) saying all sorts of terrible truths and then played that recording at the Founder's Day celebration.
After they play the tape, some zombies show up and some workers are killed. In this week's episode, Pamela is out for blood after Sebastian is killed. She wants to spare Max, Eugene and Lance from her clutches.

Max is on the run and Eugene is hiding. Two of my favorite characters on the show, Princess and Christian Serratos, will be brought in to round up all the people associated with Eugene.
This episode was highlighted by Princess. Her tragic background is gripping and adds some welcome to the episode as she explains how she came to see the Commonwealth like her abusive stepbrother. She thinks she would be like her mom if she stayed in the Commonwealth.

After visiting Eugene and agreeing to go looking for Max so that he can remain hidden, we learn that he is too scared to go looking for her himself. When Rosita sees Max hiding in an alleyway, she runs out into the street without checking the coast. She's caught. Eugene decided to turn himself in when he learned that Max wasn't to blame. Max doesn't want Eugene to be thrown under the bus to save her.
There is a more interesting storyline in this week's episode. They are on their way back to the settlements when they stop at a town to relax. It looks like it's a theme town and part of a renaissance fair. I agree with Jerry that it would be cool. The original Kingdom would have liked this setting.

Jerry hurt his knee as they tried to fight their way out after the place was overrun by zombies. They debated their next move as Jerry rested his injured appendage. The zombies are on the ledge. A zombie is climbing a ladder and reaching for a rock. That's right, dude. Jerry yelled at him to punch the zombie and tackle him to the floor.
He reached down and ripped off the mask because he thought it was a miracle. He took the face off of a walker. A walker with the ability to pick up a makeshift weapon climbs to the roof.
The ones from the first season were walkers.

This is a great moment. This is probably the most exciting time in a long time. The return of the more sentient zombies that made Season 1 so fascinating is a great twist and I knew they were going to be doing some cool stuff with zombies. For the first time in a long time, I am interested in what will happen next. It will hopefully be better than the rest of the season.
All three of Pamela's targets have been achieved back in the Commonwealth. She locked her son in a cell with a machete so he wouldn't hurt himself. I think he gets out of this situation. I would like to know what his next play is.
