North America contributed the most with $41.3 million, according to Variety. It is the first movie in North America to open above $40 million since Nope back in July, but it is a little less than Halloween Kills. Projections initially pegged the film with a domestic opening around $50-54 million, but those didn't take the film's release method into account
Last year NBCUniversal released Halloween Kills both in theaters and on the paid tiers of its Peacock streaming service for two months. Universal has said that Ends is the most watched piece of media, film or series on the platform to date. According to third-party metrics site Samba TV, Kills had over two million viewers during its first few weeks. It is difficult to tell how Ends stacks up in comparison and how much impact it had on the box office.
Paramount's Smile was one of the hurdles that Michael Myers faced. Since its late September release, the film had a 22% decline in week two, and a 33% decline in week one. The film cost $17 million to make and has made $137 million around the world. Barbarian and Pearl have been box office winners this year. Next week will see the release of Black Adam, which will result in a hierarchy change.
