Schumer said that he and Pelosi were determined to keep the electoral vote count going after the Capitol riot.

The military should remove people from the Capitol first. Schumer said that the Capitol Police were overwhelmed. The Secretary of Defense called the governors of Virginia and Maryland and urged them to send police to the Capitol to remove the hooligans.

The House select committee held its ninth public hearing on Thursday afternoon where members took a broad look at the findings from its investigation.

New clips of Pelosi and others calling multiple Trump administration officials to urge them to take action to quell the riot as they hid from the mob that overran the Capitol were shown in the hearing.

Schumer and other members of Congress were shown running to a secure location in some of the footage captured by Pelosi's daughter.

Schumer said that the best moment of the day was when Republicans and Democrats came together and decided to continue counting the votes.

He said that the four leaders, two Democrats and two Republicans got together at about five o'clock and said they were not going to let the hooligans stop the government. They would have done it. What would have happened if we delayed counting the electoral vote?

The House select committee voted unanimously Thursday to subpoena former President Donald Trump about his actions during the insurrection.

More than 100 subpoenas have been issued and more than 1000 people have been interviewed by the bipartisan panel.
