Georgia and Ohio State hold the top two spots in the AP's college football poll.

The Alabama football team was one of five teams to fall during a wild weekend and dropped three places to sixth in the AP Top 25. After losing to the Vols 52-49 on a field goal at the end of the game, Alabama moved to the Vols.

Georgia received 31 first-place votes while Ohio State received 17

The Vols got 15 first-place votes and have their best ranking since 2005. The last time Tennessee was this high in the second half of the season was 2001, when they reached the top 10 in late October and went to the SEC championship.

Michigan moved up a spot on Sunday after blowing out now-No. 5Clemson on Saturday. The school is called Penn State.

10 Oregon all moved into the top 10.

The Tide had been in the top five for 40 consecutive weeks. The streak was the longest in the country.

Georgia has been in the top five for 24 years.

The Tide's current top-five run is the third longest in the history of the program. A string of 48 consecutive top-five rankings from 2011-13 is tied for fourth on the all-time list.

Some voters were swayed by Tennessee's case to be the top team.

Four of the Vols' victories were against teams that were ranked at the time.

Ron Counts of the Idaho Statesman said that he voted for the Vols because of their strength of schedule.

Georgia has played a single ranked team this season. All of the opponents that Ohio State has played have lost at least three times.

Voters hold a lot of weight when it comes to defeating Alabama. Tennessee has been the only team this season to beat a team with a better ranking.

It was difficult to pick between Tennessee and Georgia for the top spot. The win over Oregon has aged like a fine wine, so I have been voting the Bulldogs ahead of everyone else. Beating Alabama is more impressive.

Why only No.3 for Tennessee?

The ranked-at-the-time argument falls flat for some voters, who were less impressed with victories against Florida and Pitt and gave Georgia and Ohio State credit for being more dominant.

Mike Barber of the Times-Dispatch said that he doesn't think Tennessee is being snubbed this week.
