Track Cycling World Championships: GB's Neah Evans wins points race gold for first world title

Neah Evans won the women's points race at the Track cycling World Championships.

The men's elimination race saw a silver and bronze for Hayter and Wood.

Evans won the gold medal in France with 60 points.

The silver and gold medals she won in the women's team pursuit were added to by the Scot.

France took gold with a score of 18.

A late attack by the British pair pushed them ahead of Belgium, Italy and the Netherlands in the final sprint.

Hayter and Wood were part of the quartet that won team pursuit gold earlier in the week.

In the elimination race, Vernon held off Jules Hesters to win third place.

Elia Viviani of Italy retained his world title.

Evans won two medals at the World Championships. She won her first gold on Sunday. I'm excited but I'm happy.

I was quite confident because I had a good gameplan and I had good legs.

Evans gained her first lap after Leth attacked after she won the first sprint of the 100 lap race.

It looked as though Evans' hold on the lead had loosened when Leth gained another lap later in the race, but she was able to get a second lap herself in the closing stages and win the race.
