SpaceX ferries astronauts back to Earth after half-year away

The crew of the space station returned to Earth with a splashdown in the ocean off Florida.

It was wet and windy in Florida. The three Americans and one Italian left the International Space Station on Friday after being cleared by NASA.

Just off Jacksonville, Florida, the capsule parachuted into the ocean. It was carrying the first Black woman to complete a long-term spaceflight, as well as astronauts from NASA and Europe. Last week, the replacements were delivered by the company.

The astronauts were so excited to have a cold drink with ice, eat pizza and take a shower that they couldn't wait to check out. They were going to be taken to Houston by NASA once they got off the recovery ship.

When we get back, it's going to be great to get the first few hugs.

The space station has six people remaining, three Americans, three Russians and one Japanese.
