There are flights to Milan for less than $1,000 in premium economy. Most of the fall, winter and early spring are when the prices are cheapest. If you haven't locked in your Thanksgiving plans yet, it's a good time to go overseas and take advantage of this airfare.

Air France and Italy's flag carrier ITA are two SkyTeam carriers that are included in the deals. The majority of the deals are on Delta Air Lines.

If you book Delta Premium Select tickets as part of the deal, you will get wider seats, more recline, and better food and drink options. Sky priority benefits will be available at the airport.

Milan has many reasons to visit, from its amazing restaurants to its historic sites. You will be able to branch out and visit other Italian cities by train.

Premium economy seating is a great way to get there without having to shell out a lot of money for a business class seat.

Round-trips in premium economy from New York, Boston, Washington, D.C., Charlotte and Miami were the best deals we found.

There are quite a few cities with round-trip deals in the $1,100 to $1,300 range, which may be worth exploring, given how high the prices are on premium economy seating to Europe.

It is possible to get a premium economy round-trip in that price range even if you don't see your city listed here.

If you are loyal to American, United or another airline, you can get a round-trip premium economy ticket in the $1,100 to $1,300 range. If you already enjoy the benefits of your status or co branded credit card, this may be worth it.

Most of the lowest-priced routes will take you to New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport before the flight to Milan.

There is a flight out of New York. If you want to enjoy some amazing Italian cuisine instead of turkey, you can take a Monday evening flight from JFK. The Tuesday of Thanksgiving week is when you'll arrive. The return flight leaves Milan late morning and arrives in New York at 3:15 pm the Tuesday after the holiday.

If you fly closer to the holiday, you can get a good deal. You can get to the airport early if you leave at 5 p.m. the night before the holiday. You will make the connection at JFK, but it is just over an hour before you board your Delta flight to Milan.
