William Hale and Frank Allison were both charged with attempted murder for the incident that took place on October 8.
According to the sheriff's office, Hale's 5-year-old daughter was shot in the leg by Allison's gun, and Allison's 14-year-old daughter was hit in the back.
Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper said at a news conference last week that there could have been two dead kids.
Police got calls about shots being fired on Saturday. A witness told officers that they saw a black Dodge Ram and a gray Nissan Murano drive erratically as if they were in a cat and mouse game.
Hale was in the truck while Allison was in the car. Two people drove in front of each other and slammed their brakes. Someone in Hale's truck yelled at the sedan to pull over after someone in that car knocked off Hale's truck. Someone in the truck threw a water bottle at the sedan, and then Allison fired a shot at it, Leeper said.
When Hale realized his daughter had been shot, he pulled out his gun and shot at Allison's car.
When the two drivers saw the patrol car, they stopped the chase.
One crazy driver with a gun is frightening. Leeper said that two crazy drivers were holding a gun. Thankfully, no one was killed in this incident but it could've been a lot worse because two people were acting stupid and letting their tempers get the best of them.
