Sometimes fathers have to discipline their children, but rarely in the way that happened this weekend.
Packers guard Jon Runyan Jr. received a letter from his father, Jon Runyan, the NFL's vice president of football operations, who told him that he had been fined for leg-whipping an opponent during the first quarter of Green Bay's loss last Sunday.
In the letter, the senior Runyan warned his son that he would be suspended if he continued to violate the rules.

Runyan was fined $11,139 by Tom Brady for kicking a Falcons defensive lineman.
He signed the letter "sincerely Jon Runyan", not father, dad or any other family name.
One of the first cases in which a father has ordered a team to take money out of his son's paycheck is believed to have happened. Runyan is appealing the fine.
The junior Runyan will have the opportunity to return. Runyan has not allowed a quarterback pressure during his time on the field.
