DC Comics has used expanded media like films and cartoons to highlight their A-list teams. The Legion of Super-Heroes, which will have its own animated film coming soon, is one of the lesser known teams that they have begun to focus on.
The Legion of Super Heroes film is set in the same universe as Superman: World of Tomorrow and Batman: Long Halloween, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Superman decides to send Meg to the 31st century to learn how to be a hero after she shows up on Earth. A group of people called the Dark Circle are looking for a weapon in the Academy's vault.
Other cast members include, Harry Shum Jr. as Brainiac 5, Zeno Robinson as Invisible Kid, and Ben Diskin as Arms Fall Off Boy. Daymond, Robinson, and Diskin are the actors who play each of the Brainiacs. Jensen Ackles, who played Batman in Justice Society: World War II, and Matt Bomer, who played the Flash in Justice Society: World War II, will reprise their roles in the new movie.
The Legion have been a fixture in DC Comics for over 50 years. As far as an overall team is concerned, the Legion is perhaps best remembered for showing up in the DCAU's Superman and Justice League animated series, or their starring role in their unconnected Legion series on Kids WB back in 2006 In recent years, the most well-known members have appeared in a variety of shows and films, including Young Justice: Phantoms and Supergirl. In most of these instances, the team has had their story attached to a Super, usually the Man of Steel himself, but in the last few years it has been Supergirl or the new version of Superboy.
The Legion of Super-Heroes will be released soon.
