Scotland lost to Australia in the Rugby World Cup for the second year in a row.
Bryan Easson's side led 12-0 at half-time thanks to a Lana Skeldon score and a penalty try, but Australia came storming back in the second half.
The Wallaroos won the game with 13 players.
Scotland needs to beat New Zealand next Saturday to have a chance of progressing.
Skeldon dived over for her second try of the World Cup after Scotland kicked a penalty into the corner.
Australia had a hard time finding a rhythm in the opening exchanges. Scotland's defensive discipline was directly related to the exits and inability to consistently get over the gain line.
Scotland stretched their lead after a spell of sustained pressure on the try-line.
Scotland went in at the break with a 12-0 lead after a 50m break from Eva Karpani took Australia into the Scotland 22.
The second half was led by huge carries by Karpani. Scotland's defense and handling errors kept them from scoring.
With an hour gone, Australia was on the board and they had possession and territory. Terita walked over in the corner.
Terita made the most of her reprieve after a high tackle on Scotland captain Rachel Malcolm by scoring a try.
Marsters scored after breaking a couple of tackles to take Australia deep into Scotland territory. Australia was in front for the first time.
Australia were reduced to 14 players after Marsters was sent off for a dangerous tackle and then had to play the final stages with just 13 players.
Scotland had a numerical advantage and were able to throw everything at Australia in the closing stages but were unable to score a famous win.
Malcolm said after the game that it was difficult. We showed a lot more than we did a week ago. I'm very happy with the attitude of the girls today. The defence kept us in the game, but we couldn't finish it.
