After a jury ordered Alex Jones to pay Sandy Hook victims' families nearly $1 billion for lying about the school shooting, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene went to bat for the conspiracy theorist.

Did he apologize for what he said? There was a yes on Wednesday. Freedom of speech is what it is. It's freedom to say something. It's time for political persecution to stop.

After losing a defamation trial for lying about Sandy Hook, the man who has pushed conspiracy theories about mass shootings praised Jones and said he has been right most of the time. Jones failed his free-speech defense.

The 2012 school massacre was faked according to Jones. It resulted in the deaths of 20 children and 6 adults.

No matter what you think of Alex Jones all he did was speak words. He was not the one who pulled the trigger. Were his words wrong and did he apologize? Yes.That’s what freedom of speech is. Freedom to speak words.

Political persecution must end.https://t.co/3X81xOCS9j

Marjorie Taylor Greene is a member of the US House of Representatives.

She was criticized on the social networking site for her comments.

Video: Alex Jones' deposition on Sandy Hook shooting

The lawyer of a Sandy Hook parent questioned Alex Jones for three hours about his claims that the shooting was a hoax. It wasn't a good thing for Jones.

The daughter of a murdered Sandy Hook principal pointed out that Jones was holding a press conference outside the courthouse as she was testifying about how Sandy Hook conspiracy theorists threatened her with rape and death.

Free Speech doesn't excuse the consequences of lying. One person pointed out that yelling "fire" in a crowded movie theater is saying the same thing.
