SAN FRANCISCO, CA - OCTOBER 9: Russell Westbrook of the Los Angeles Lakers warms up before the game against the Golden State Warriors on October 9, 2022 at Chase Center in San Francisco, California. Russell might be leaving Los Angeles sooner than later.

The guard will come off the bench for the Lakers' final preseason game, and the Lakers are expected to ramp up trade talks for the NBA's Most Valuable Player again.

The Lakers will engage teams again on possible Russell Westbrook trades at some point in the future, according to a report. At the beginning of training camp, they paused it. As teams put their rosters together, make their cuts, and then see what it looks like playing preseason games, it gets a little quiet.

I think the Lakers would like to improve this team, even though there's an opportunity for Russell Westbrook to be integrated with this group and that second unit. Once the regular season starts, you can expect them to start campaigning again.
