The company's vision has been criticized despite the fact that it has spent billions on its virtual reality playground.

One of the most exciting new features that was demoed at the event was that the company's hideous virtual reality character will be getting legs.

That might have been too good to be true. The publication was told by a spokesman that the legs may have features created from motion capture.

The CEO implied at the event that his legs were pre-rendered and not a direct virtual reality translation of his real legs.

Tuesday's keynote was disappointing.

The company also showed off a new virtual reality headset called the Oculus Quest Pro, which has an eyewatering price tag, as well as announcing that its pixelated avatars will get a new look.

The Quest Pro is not likely to convince many people to spend more time in the metaverse.

John Carmack, creator of the blockbuster video game "Doom", told the audience at the conference that Meta needs to work on that.
