A new version of the Messages app is being worked on by Apple.

According to Majin Bu, Apple is working on a new version of iMessage that will feature a new home view, chat rooms, video clips, and more. The app should be released next year along with Apple's headset.

If it is linked to the launch of Apple's headset, then further iteration of the Messages app will be believable.

According to Mark Gurman, who often reveals accurate insights into Apple's plans, Apple's mixed-reality headset will focus on gaming, media consumption, and communication. He thinks Memojis and SharePlay could be a part of the experience. It would require a convenient experience to initiate SharePlay sessions in the Messages app.

A new operating system called "rOS" or "realityOS" is rumored to be the headset's internal operating system. The existence of realityOS was confirmed earlier this year when references to it were found in App Store upload logs.

Majin Bu has revealed some accurate information about Apple's plans, particularly with regards to cases and color options, and shared it with Ross Young before he did. Their reputation with regards to software is different. The new smart multitasking system for iPadOS would be exclusive to the M1 iPad, according to Majin Bu. It's not clear if this information was legit since it could have referred to an earlier version of Stage Manager.
