The man has passed away. As one of the key subjects of the 1999 documentary American Movie, he was well known for his low-key but friendly vibe, his talent for music and histrionic screams, and his steadfast support for friend Mark Borchad. Filmmaker Mark Duplass reported the death of the man to the Milwaukee Record. The man was 56 years old.
23 years ago, he appeared in American Movie as Borchardt's musician, assistant director, and all-purpose get-stuff-done guy on the production of Coven. One of Borchardt's final social media posts was from this August, when he celebrated 27 years of recovery from alcoholism and drug use.
Two years later, he would appear in Todd Solendz's Storytelling as the cameraman helping Paul Giamatti capture the life of a miserable upper-class family. An appearance on Family Guy was one of the credits that included a cut part in the special features of the movie.
In a 2012 radio interview, he reported that he and Borchardt continued to stay in close contact and that he was happy with the opportunities he was given by American Movie. According to The Record, he was a key member of the Mke Alano Club, a recovery club in the city.
