The world's fastest-accelerating electric vehicle will be gone before you can say "one Mississippi, two Mississippi"
The GreenTeam can go from zero to 62 miles per hour in less than two minutes. According to the school's website, its peak acceleration is roughly equivalent to the force experienced by astronauts when a rocket re-enters the Earth's atmosphere
The Green Team has broken the record before. The record was set in 2012 with a time of 2.691 seconds. The title went to the Netherlands and Switzerland until the Germans took it back in 2015. The record was broken in 2016 by a Swiss crew.
It was the second attempt at the record for the Green Team. Technical issues forced the team to cancel their first attempt.
The record was verified at a track in Germany.
