Ron Johnson said he condoned white supremacy before he corrected himself. During a debate Thursday, Sen. Ron Johnson said he had been set up by the FBI and the crowd laughed. The senator was warned by the FBI that the Russians were trying to turn him into a Russian asset. The Washington Post reported last year that Johnson was told by the FBI in 2020 that he was the target of Russian misinformation in order to make him useful to the Kremlin. Barnes said in his face-off with Johnson that he couldn't trust him to protect democracy in the US. Johnson responded with a "wild charge". The laughter came from the debate audience when he claimed that the FBI set him up with a corrupt briefing and leaked it to make him look bad. Johnson said that he has been trying to uncover and expose the FBI's corruption.

Johnson has made a number of wild claims.
After the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol, Johnson in a radio interview defended the attackers as peaceful, who would never do anything to break the law. Had the rioters been Black Lives Matter protesters, he would have been concerned.
He claimed that he had no idea what was happening when he was involved in trying to overthrow the 2020 presidential vote. He said he tried to get a fake electors to vote against Biden. He refused to accept it.
In a Fox Business News interview last month, Johnson said hecondoned white supremacy, then quickly changed the word to "condemned" in what one critic blasted as an all-time Freudian slip.
The most vulnerable senator in the upcoming election is Johnson, but he has been inching ahead in the polls.
