Back in August American Airlines teased a new design template for its Admirals Clubs, starting with the new club opening on the E (regional jet) concourse at Washington’s National airport.

When American shared their designs for the delayed Austin club, we knew what they were thinking. The current design template is sterile and institutional. It feels really high end. It feels too nice for American Airlines and I'm not sure what to think.

The National airport lounge will be 14,500 square feet and have 236 seats, but the actual capacity will be lower as passengers will take more than one seat, and seating areas designed for two but taken by one aren't exactly available. The two American Airlines clubs at the airport are smaller than this one. The US Capitol can be seen from the new club.

The club is almost done and employees will be able to tour it this week. It was hoped it would open next week. Once the final touches are done and the permits are received, the lounge will be open to the public.

Let's take a look at the design of American's clubs.
