Medina, a communications vice president at a think tank, said that the family closed all of their window blinds, locked the doors and gathered in an upstairs hallway. Once the danger seemed to have moved further away from their home, the family went upstairs to listen to the police scanner and watch the news.
We will be very careful for the rest of the night. She said to keep all of the lights on.
She said that Hedingham is a dense, tree-lined neighborhood with a lot of single- family homes and duplexes that are more moderately priced than other parts of the Raleigh area.
She brings pepper spray with her when she takes her kids on bike rides along the greenway.
