After getting stuck in London because of a passport issue, Jamie Gillan returned to the Giants' indoor fieldhouse and blasted punts off the ceiling.
Gillan, a native of Scotland, returned to the US after the issue was solved.
The man is free. Special teams coach Thomas McGaughey said that Jamie was free. He came back at 10 o'clock. He's doing well. The man is ready to rock.
Gillan had to get a passport visa for athletes in order to return to the country. It was only possible to handle it in person.
It would take a while.
Gillan appreciated the Giants organization and Laurie Tisch for allowing that to happen. The people at the U.S. Embassy are wonderful. There is a lot of paperwork and it's helpful that they were there.
It took us two days to get me back. We did it and I'm there.
Steve Tisch is the Chairman and Executive Vice President of the Giants. She helped speed the process along.
Gillan was able to spend a few more days with his family. In London, he was put up in an apartment. He sneaked in a workout and studied film on his iPad after they ordered food.
The Giants were hopeful that Gillan would come back in time for the game. They had a contingency plan in place if it took longer than anticipated.
Yeah." McGaughey said you always do. You never know what's going to happen when dealing with embassies and policies. There was a plan in place. Before the event, we had a plan. We were prepared.
Gillan wanted them to know that his passport would be a problem before the trip. He made the best of the situation and didn't return with the team.
At some point, it would need to be addressed.
Gillan said he wouldn't have done that until after the season. It was what happened. It wasn't bad.
He missed only one day because the Giants were off. The man was in the building by Thursday morning.
The game is several days away and jet lag shouldn't be an issue.
I don't think so. Gillan said it was okay. It's time to figure it out. Get some sleep and drink some coffee.
Gillan has an average of 51.0 yards on 21 punts.
