The House January 6 committee wrapped up its 9th day of hearings just minutes after former President Donald Trump sent out a fundraising email.
The ex-president told his supporters that he was fighting for their heritage.
"Our movement is the greatest political movement in the history of our country because I am fighting for you, your home, your heritage, and your freedom," Trump wrote in the email.
After filling out a survey with questions such as "Are you concerned about the Radical Left's effect on this country?", Trump encourages his supporters to donate at least $45 to the Save America Joint Fundraising Committee, which is composed of two of his post-presidential political committees: Save America and
While he hasn't officially registered a presidential campaign committee, Trump is using his political action committees to fund a variety of expenses, from staging rallies to paying staffers.
At the end of the hearing on Thursday, the committee voted to subpoena Trump for testimony.
The chairman of the committee said it was their obligation to seek Donald Trump's testimony. He has to answer to the police officers who have died defending our democracy.
It would likely take years to enforce the subpoena if Trump refused it. He said the committee was a "total BUST" and a "laughing stock" in a Thursday afternoon statement.
The report on the investigation into the January 6 attacks is expected to be released before the election. If Republicans regain the House majority in November, the committee will likely be dissolved.
In the subject line of his email, Trump claimed that his approval rating among Republicans was at 98%.
In a New York Times/Siena College poll published in July, only 49% of Republican voters said they would vote for Trump in the GOP presidential primary in four years. More than a quarter of GOP voters said they would vote for Ron DeSantis. Trump's approval ratings have fallen to their lowest point since he left office, according to an NBC poll.
Numerous worthless incentives, a Mar-a-Lago missive in the midst of a Florida Hurricane, and aggressive scare tactics have all helped the ex-president rake in cash through his various fundraising efforts.
Save America reported $92.8 million in reserve at the end of August.
