Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson, who has taken a lot of the heat for the team's slow start and is dealing with pain near his throwing shoulder, said Thursday that he's physically ready for Monday night's game against the Los Angeles.
Wilson was in his usual spot with the starters during the open viewing periods despite being listed as limited on the injury report. Wilson injured his back in the second quarter of the Broncos' loss to the Raiders.
Wilson played every offensive snap in the Colts loss as he looked out of sorts. In the second half of the Broncos' game against the Colts, he threw for 21-of-39 yards and two picks.
Wilson said that shoulder was feeling better. I haven't had this before but I will be fine. I will be prepared.
The Broncos coach said that he looked good. Russ has been in the league for a long time and he has different things to contend with. You are always dealing with that stuff. I think he's doing a great job.
The Broncos' struggles on the offensive side of the ball has been a topic of discussion. The Broncos are tied for 30th in the league in scoring, last in the league in red zone scoring, and last in goal-to-go situations.
The Broncos are tied for the league lead in pass completions of 25 or more yards, but have scored just six touchdown overall and only scored two points in the third quarter of their five games, with two of those points coming on a safety
Wilson isn't ranked above 14th among the league's starting quarterbacks in any of the major passing categories, including 28th in completion percentage and 23rd in touchdown passes.
Wilson has been the target of all forms of analysis and criticism since the Broncos traded five draft picks and three players to Seattle to get him in March.
Wilson said there was a lot of season left. I have done it before and I will do it again. You do not get motivated by criticism. I'm capable of handling it. I'm prepared for the good and bad times. It isn't supposed to be easy.
