John Carmack is the digital pioneer behind the blockbuster videogame "Doom"

He said during " Carmack Unscripted" that he was "grumpy about a lot of things."

The comments were made a few hours after the release of the keynote presentation in which the founder showed off the company's latest developments in virtual reality.

Carmack took his own hour to destroy the company's metaverse strategy.

Carmack said last year that he would be disappointed if we weren't having connect in horizon.

He said this wasn't what he meant. It's the same thing as being on a video for me.

Quest Qualms

Carmack voiced his frustration with the new headset in his speech. The battery life is atrocious, and it's wildly expensive, even though it features some technological improvements over Meta's Quest 2.

The person who created "Doom" is not a fan. "I'm all about the cost-effective mass-market headsets being the most important thing for us and for the adoption of virtual reality," Carmack said. It's definitely not that.

Doomed Strategy

Carmack was not happy with Meta's overall strategy. He acknowledged that he was caught up in an uphill battle and struggling with the technological limitations of today's virtual reality technologies.

He argued that Meta should try to get as many people into the space as possible, and that it's not going to solve the problem of people not playing the game.

Quality concerns have been raised about the Metaverse, but apparently only for executives.
