Will we actually see a touchdown tonight?

The Washington Commanders and the Chicago Bears will play in a game of sub-.500 teams on Thursday Night Football. It's not clear what anyone did to deserve this.

There isn't much reason to watch this game other than to see Chicago's orange helmets. The Chicago Bears are in third place in theNFC Central, one game ahead of the Detroit Lions. The teams scored the least points in their division. The teams scored less than 18 points per game.

This doesn't seem to be the right fit for fans of high- scoring football. The Bears are fifth in the league in rushing offense with 157.4 yards on the ground. It seems like the only plays quarterback Justin Fields has been able to make consistently are when he escapes the pocket and makes a play with his legs. Fields and Daniel Jones are the only two running quarterbacks with three passing touchdown in a full time starter's career.

After throwing an pick at the goal line to lose the game for the Commanders, he was thrown under the bus by his coach. Rivera apologized and said they are ready to go.

Rivera said that he and Carlson had a nice conversation.

Washington comes into this game with the 10th-ranked passing attack in the league. It hasn't translated into wins for the team so far.

He is fifth in touchdown passes with 10 and he has been better than Fields. The signal- caller tends to make bad decisions. He has six turnovers and six intercepts.

The on-field product isn't the only bad thing. The owner of the team claims to have dirt on some of the owners. It is clear that bad company culture starts at the top with the numerous allegations and investigations into the commanders.

If you made it through last week's snoozer, you better hope it's competitive this week. The Colts defeated the Broncos in overtime last week. The teams converted less than 20% of their third downs in this game. The game ended in an extra quarter. The Commanders and Bears only need to produce one touchdown and not force the public to stay. Give us something more than a field goal. Nobody wants to see a lot of kicking.

There is good news for people who value options in life. The only game on the schedule today should be over by the time the Bears and Commanders start playing. The NBA has a couple of preseason games that will be happening if the game becomes too much to handle. The Memphis and Pistons are playing tonight, followed by the Oklahoma City and San Antonio teams. The options are available if you need them.

There are always things related to non-sports in prime time. Law & Order: SVU can be found on NBC. You could always switch to Hell's Kitchen on Fox. If you don't have Amazon Prime, you could be on one of those boats.

America loves its National Football League so there will be some sort of audience even with a bad match up. Gambling and fantasy football have made a lot of football games watchable today. It depends on your tolerance level for field goals and lousy offense.
