Eero announced earlier this month that it would be changing its subscription plans to one flat rate of $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year. If you want to access features like parental controls, ad blocking, or network usage information, you need to use Eero Plus.
Today, subscribers to the cheaper plan, Eero Secure, began to receive notifications that their plan was ending and would be replaced by the more expensive Eero Plus plan.
If you don't have an Eero device subscription, you can't set parental controls or see how much data is being used. Most of the time, these services are offered for free. Parent controls and network activity information are free on the mesh network system of the search engine.
Eero is offering existing Secure users 50 percent off Eero Plus for a year, but that still means they are paying at least $20 more than they were paying a year ago They will pay the full rate after the discount year.
All of the services that were part of Secure are included in the Eero Plus service. The plan makes sense if you already pay for one or more of those services, but if you don't like them, it's less compelling.
If your main service goes down, you will be able to connect your network to a backup internet source with the new internet backup service. Paying $10 a month for that feature is questionable.
This change is opt out. Existing Secure subscribers have to cancel their plans before renewing to avoid being charged for the Eero Plus service. You can change your mind at account.eero.com.
