There will be special zones for drunk football fans at the World Cup, according to the chief of the organizing committee.
During the World Cup in November and December, alcohol will be sold in fan zones and outside stadiums. As a Muslim country, it is not used to dealing with public drunkenness, potentially on a mass scale, but has decided to control it by making sure there is an alternative to jail time.
If people have been drinking too much, there are plans in place for them to sober up. It's a place to make sure that they don't harm anyone else.
Fans who end up in a so-called "sobering tent" will remain there until they are clearheaded to be released, according to reports.
Gay fans can hold hands and no one will be discriminated against in regards to anti-LGBTQIA+ laws. Same-sex partnerships are not recognized in the country.
People are asked to be respectful of the culture. "As long as you don't do anything that harms other people, if you're not destroying public property, then you have nothing to worry about."
