William Jackson III could be on the move before the trade deadline.

Jackson wants a fresh start, with a scheme that he believes better fits him, according to Ian Rapoport.

Several teams are interested in the Cornerback, and Washington held trade discussions.

According to the report, Jackson thinks he fits better in a man-to-man defensive scheme than a zone defense.

He was taken out of the game against Tennessee. Ron Rivera told reporters that they made a change. The flow of the game is what determines our decisions.

Jackson, who will not play Thursday's game against the Chicago Bears and was listed with a back injury in practice reports, said he was fighting the injury during the game against the Tennessee.

The 29-year-old entered the league as a first-round pick of the Cincinnati Bengal in 2016 and played for them through the 2020 season. He didn't make a Pro Bowl and had just three picks in that time, but he still made an impression as a shutdown corner.

He received a 90.2 and 71.4 score from Pro Football Focus in the last two years.

Jackson signed a three-year, $42 million contract with the Commanders after catching the attention of the team. In his first year with the team, he played in 12 games and finished with 39 tackles, eight passes defended and two intercepts.

In four games, he has 16 tackles and two passes defended.

Maybe a change in scenery will help him rediscover the form he showed at times for the Bengal.

Washington is off to a 1-4 start and is well behind the rest of the division, so any type of draft pick or future asset it could land in a deal could help accelerate a rebuild.
