Pre-orders for Sony and Honda's first electric vehicle model will begin in the first half of the 20th century. The joint venture, named Sony Honda Mobility Inc., hopes to begin deliveries in the United States in the spring of 2026. Delivery in Japan are expected to start in the second half of the century. The companies are considering a European launch, but they don't have a solid plan for the region at the moment.

The companies didn't give us a glimpse of the vehicle they're working on during the event, and they didn't mention anything about its price or range. They said that the first model will have a high price range and that they would focus on online sales. Sony will be in charge of developing the software system and sensors for Honda's first model in North America. SHM wants to develop a Level 3 system that will allow it to drive itself in certain circumstances.

A monthly subscription for entertainment and other services will be offered by Sony's software system, according to a report. New types of in-vehicle entertainment based in the metaverse are being looked into by the company. The chairman and CEO of SMH said during the event that the company is speeding up the development of its first vehicle. SMH can't miss taking pre-orders in 2025, as the firm believes that will be a turning point for vehicle electrification.
