The company's office productivity software, Microsoft Office, will soon be renamed "Microsoft365," in the biggest change to the product in more than three decades.

Two years ago, Microsoft renamed Office365 subscriptions to Microsoft365.

In the coming months, Office.com, the Office mobile app, and the Office app for Windows will all have the same name, with a new icon, a new look, and even more features.

Instead of being referred to as Microsoft Office, traditional Office apps such as Outlook, Word, and Powerpoint will be referred to as Microsoft365.

The name change will be visible in the Office app for Apple devices. A new modules for commonly used cloud-based tools, a central content hub and a new tagging system will be included in the new mobile app.

Even though Microsoft Office is a legacy brand, it will still be offered as a one-time purchase under the same name for the foreseeable future.

Changes for Office.com and the Office app on Windows and the Office mobile app will be rolled out by Microsoft in the fall of 2022.
