With his team still appealing $200,000 in fines and allegations from NASCAR that Stewart-Haas Racing manipulated the finish of the most recent playoff race, co-owner Tony Stewart decided not to discuss that.
Stewart wouldn't talk about it. I'm not talking about it because I'm so angry at NASCAR.
The results of the playoff elimination race at Charlotte were manipulated by Stewart-Haas, according to NASCAR.
While still moving forward with the appeal in that case, Stewart-Haas dropped its appeal of the earlier penalties against Kevin Harvick and his crew chief.
The move was made after Stewart spoke with reporters. SHR chief competition officer Greg Zipadelli said in a statement that the team "denies any wrongdoing and will vigorously defend its personnel."
Stewart was in Texas for his 13th Smoke Show racing fantasy camp, an event that has raised more than 1.5 million dollars for Texas charities, but hadn't been held the past two years because of the swine flu. He will travel about 75 miles to attend the Texas Fall Nationals.
Stewart said he was glad he was going to drag race this weekend. I wouldn't be in a race the rest of the year if it weren't for the appearances I have to make. Wouldn't take up my time.
Stewart said he was having fun with the sport. The atmosphere is not the same as usual. I enjoy the atmosphere there all year long.
Cole Custer appeared to deliberately hold up a line of traffic on Charlotte's road course as teammate Chase Briscoe tried to move into the third round of the playoffs.
NASCAR senior vice president of competition Scott Miller said Tuesday that there was nothing to disagree with.
Kyle Larson, the reigning NASCAR champion, was eliminated from the playoffs as the field was reduced from 12 to eight. The eighth and final spot in the playoffs was earned by Briscoe.
50 driver points and 50 owner points were lost for SHR due to a $100,000 fine by NASCAR. The crew chief was suspended indefinitely.
Stewart was looking for a new hobby that wasn't from the south eastern part of the country. It must be something low drama and relaxing.
Drag racing is something that will be happening this week.
That's right.
