You can get a 50% discount on a one-year subscription to the Qantas Club.

Qantas Club memberships include access to the American Airlines Admirals Club, even for those traveling on domestic American Airlines-marketed and -operated flights. The first to report this news was Executive Traveller.

The information online about the lounge access policy for Qantas Club members was not clear, so TPG reached out to American Airlines. Representatives from American made a statement.

... we allow QF Club Card holders to access the Admirals Club when travelling on AA or QF-operated flights.

How do you buy a Qantas Club membership?

You can purchase a membership online. I didn't have a frequent flyer account with Qantas, and the airline didn't collect the activation fee when I joined, so I didn't pay it. I was asked to pay a total of about $203 for my one-year subscription to the Qantas Club.

If you have a US address, Qantas will deliver your membership kit in three weeks. You can pay a fee for express delivery. The kit will be delivered in three to seven business days.

Qantas Club memberships provide a number of benefits when traveling on Qantas.

Other ways to access the Admirals Club on domestic itineraries

The Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite Mastercard®

A complimentary admirals club membership is included with the Citi AAdvantage Executive World Elite Mastercard.

The card comes with an 80,000-mile sign-up bonus if you open an account within the first three months. The bonus is based on the most recent valuations of the company.

Choice rewards was introduced earlier this year. You can choose between one-time passes or annual memberships if you achieve a Loyalty Choice Reward tier.

Elite status from a foreign Oneworld carrier

You can access the Admirals Club when you travel on domestic American flights if you have Oneworld or Emerald status.

It's possible to earn Oneworld Emerald status for under $3,000 this year.

Bottom line

The Qantas Club sale is a great way to get access to the Admirals Club for a fraction of the price. If agents assume your Qantas Club membership doesn't give you access to the Admirals Club, you should be prepared to prove you are eligible.
