The man took magic mushrooms.

According to an affidavit filed in federal court, a man who is accused of attacking flight attendants and breaking a bathroom door on a United Airlines flight admitted to consuming mushrooms at the airport.

The violent incident happened when Cherruy Loghan Sevilla was flying to Washington DC.

One hour into the flight Sevilla displayed disturbing and uncontrollable behavior, according to the affidavit.

Sevilla clapped loudly near the cockpit and yelled obscenities after grabbing the arm of a female passenger sitting next to him.

He is accused of opening the aircraft bathroom door and breaking a plastic piece off of it.

Sevilla lay on the floor when the flight attendant tried to get him to return to his seat.

A law enforcement officer who was on board was able to get a hand cuff around Sevilla's wrist, but he continued to fight, twisting a second flight attendant's arm.

Sevilla was handcuffed around his left wrist after several passengers tried to subdue him.

The flight attendant who was attacked was left with a bruise on her chest and was unable to perform her normal duties.

Sevilla admitted in an interview that he had eaten magic mushrooms at the airport.

He apologized for his actions and said he was not surprised.

Sevilla was released on his own recognizance on October 5 after being charged with assault and interfering with a flight crew.

The airline said in a statement that it appreciated the crew members handling the situation with professionalism and that it followed up with the employees after the passenger was removed.
