In a Tuesday interview with CNN, President Biden addressed the possibility that his son could face criminal charges stemming from a false statement on an application to get a gun.

According to a recent Washington Post story, federal agents believe they have enough evidence to charge Hunter Biden with tax crimes and make a false statement in relation to a gun purchase.

I'm proud of my boy. Biden said that this is a grown man who got hooked on drugs like many families have had. He overcame that. A new life has been established by him.

The president pointed out that his son had written about his addiction struggles in his memoir, "Beautiful Things," and that he had lied when he applied for a gun.

When he made an application to buy a gun, I didn't know about it, but I guess you get asked. Are you a drug user? He didn't say yes. He said "no" in his book. I have a lot of faith in my son. He is on the straight and narrow and I adore him.

On Monday, Sean Hannity played a voicemail left for Hunter Biden by his father on his program, telling his viewers that Hunter lied on a gun application to buy a handgun.

Biden supports his son.

"It's my dad," he said. I told you I loved you. I love you more than everyone else. Biden told him to get some help. You do not know what to do. I do as well.

The Washington Post reported that the decision on whether to criminally charge Hunter Biden was left to the U.S. attorney in Delaware.
