According to sources, LaMelo Ball is expected to miss one to two weeks because of his ankle injury.

The Hornets said that Ball's return to basketball activities would be determined by how he responds to treatment for his ankle injury and that further updates would be provided as appropriate.

Ball left the game against the Wizards after Anthony Gill stepped on his left foot as he drove towards the basket.

Ball lay on the floor for a while before getting up and shooting two free throws. He then went to the locker room.

Ball and Plumlee won't travel with the team to Philadelphia for the preseason finale because of injuries, according to Steve Clifford. His comments were made before the results were announced.

On October 19th, the Hornets will play at San Antonio.

If Ball was out for the season opener, Terry Rozier would start.

The Boston Celtics went to the Eastern Conference finals in Terry's first year as the starting point guard. It is a role he is comfortable with, and if that ends up being the situation, we will do it.

He said that Ball is in good spirits.

"You have to be on the rehabilitation if you have a plan,'' he said. You will get back quicker if you are with it. He was very positive despite his disappointment. It's not a big deal.

Dennis Smith Jr. would get more playing time.
