According to one of the panel's members, the next public hearing will reveal new information about Donald Trump's plans and how much he knew about the Capitol riot.
In an interview with CNN, Lofgren said that the committee's ninth public hearing will discuss the close ties between people in the Trump world and extremists.
Lofgren said that the hearing would be about more than that. We are augmenting with new material that we have discovered through our work this summer.
She said that focusing on Trump's intentions was part of the process.
Lofgren thinks it will be worthwhile to watch. As we got into it, I was surprised by some new material.
There will be a hearing at 1p.m. The time is on Thursday. On the eve of the hearing, the committee leaders decided to delay it because of the major storm in the area.
The committee interviewed Virginia Thomas for 3.5 hours later that week. According to reports, Thomas pushed the Trump administration and others to challenge the electoral victory of Joe Biden.
Lofgren told MSNBC that Thomas wasn't videotaped during her interview with the committee. It is not clear if her testimony will be used in the hearing.
Lofgren said that the mob was led by some extremists who plotted in advance what they were going to do.
The facts and circumstances of the January 6, 2021, riot are being investigated by the committee. Legislators fled their chambers and temporarily stopped confirmation of Biden's victory over Trump in the 2020 election.
The committee must submit a final report to the president by the end of the year. Lofgren told CNN on Tuesday that the report will include recommendations to make U.S. elections more secure.
NBC News reported that the panel was expected to show clips of Roger Stone, a long-time political ally of President Donald Trump, talking about his plans to challenge the results of the 2020 election.
