The Washington Commodes are now known as the Washington Commanders and they are playing like it. Since that time, the smell has gotten worse. The loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 2 set off a chain of events. Ron Rivera felt compelled to blame his quarterback for the Commanders' troubles in 2022. A reporter asked Rivera what the difference was between the Commies...errr, Commodes, and the rest of the team. Rivera dropped a dye pack in the bag of the player to set him up for the fall.
This is a quarterback-driven league. Teams that have been able to sustain success have been built around a specific quarterback.
It's a cop-out as satisfying as it may be. Rivera was answering a question about the scapegoat industry. The representation of everything wrong with the organization has been made clear by the fact that Wentz has only been in a Washington uniform for five games. Rivera has won less than 40 percent of the games he has coached.
The front office is not free from that. Since Rivera was hired, he has used the names Ryan Fitzpatrick, Taylor Heinicke, Alex Smith, and Kyle Allen as his starting quarterbacks. Rivera was hired by the front office, but they didn't give him a signal caller.

As a result, Washington has mimicked the Carolinas and Indianapolis in their reliance on stop-gap contractors to paper over a subpar offense instead of drafting and developing a coveted rookies. During a round of Russian roulette, the revolver chamber can be heard spinning for every time the quarterback returns.
The coach should bench the quarterback immediately if the position is such a dilemma. Even though he won't win a lot of games, Sam Howell was promising in the preseason and at least Washington could know what they have in him while he's playing to keep the Commanders out of C.J. Instead, they are kicking the can down the road.
He is trying to win games in order to get his job. He is unaware of his role in the situation. The defense of Washington has been terrible. Rivera was hired to teach defensive skills. Since Rivera's debut season, Washington has gone backwards with a plethora of talented personnel on the defense.
The Commies are eighth in points allowed, 29th in pass defense, and are allowing 7.2 yards per pass attempt. The Commanders have scored 12 points in their last three games. The scapegoat is not the disease, but the symptom of it.
Daniel Jones is in a zero-wr offense. The Eagles are experimenting with their use of Hurts, who many people thought was a true quarterback. The Cowboys have won four games in a row. O.J. promised to find his ex- wife's killer, and Rivera was trying to figure out who to blame. His mirror is his companion.
