Dundee United v Hibernian
Australian defender Aziz Behich scored his second goal in two games

After only their second league win of the season, Dundee United climbed off the bottom of the table.

A lot of chances were passed up by both sides in an action-packed 90 minutes, in which a goal by Mykola Kukharevych was disallowed for the visitors.

Hibs have lost for the first time in five games, but they are still in third place.

In the last four days, Liam Fox's side has turned around. They were five points adrift at the bottom by the time they kicked off.

A thumping win over Aberdeen has catapulted them above County who they visit this weekend.

Fox said that it's eyes on Saturday. Every game in this league is very difficult. We want to make a good week against Ross County.

The past four days have been a turning point for Fox. They were five points adrift at the bottom by the time they kicked off. A thumping win over Aberdeen has catapulted them above County who they visit this weekend.

In a game that could rival any so far this season for drama and sheer footballing spectacle, the only goal came after 10 minutes and it was United's lone shot on target.

After playing an intelligent one-two with Jamie McGrath, Behich was able to skip away from a challenge and score his second goal in as many games.

After the goal, both sides took turns to move forward.

The shots from inside the area were stopped by CarljohanEriksson before the Ukrainian thought he had leveled the field.

The Hibs forward appeared to signal for a push in the box when he nodded in from a Youan scissor kick, but the goal was ruled out by the ref. Neither player was shown in the replays.

United then charged down the pitch and McGrath was bundled over in the box. Loud penalty appeals were thrown out.

Liam Smith's cross narrowly evaded Tony Watt after the restart, as the second half was just as exciting.

Two gilt-edged chances were missed by Hibs as Kuharevich missed a one-v-one and the visitors were relentless in their attack.

Both teams kept up the pace with Watt having a run at goal stopped by Ryan Porteous and Kuharevich having a spectacular overhead kick tipped over the bar.

The game ended with only one goal scored, as a venomous Euan Henderson drive whistled narrowly wide in the final few minutes.

Player of the match - Aziz Behich

Everyone on the pitch could be a worthy nominee here, but Behich showed the most clinical touch to score the game's only goal

Non-stop action yields single goal - analysis

It was an advert for Scottish football on the same night as two other big games.

The nature of the win lifts them off of the bottom, but they only had one shot at it. They had 42% of the possession, conceded 18 shots, and watched Hibs zip the ball around them.

The home side's defensive shape was well-organised and they were able to break fast.

They won't know how they didn't get the ball over the line. They did but it was ruled out. It appeared to be a legitimate goal.

They had a lot of entries into the final third and passed a lot of passes into the final third. They tried to break down United when they tried to play through them.

They will rue their missed chances as well.

What they said

Liam Fox said it was busy. There were spells where we really had to dig in. We're happy with the three points, even though it was difficult for us.

Sometimes you just need to dig in and find a way to win, and that's what pleased me most tonight. People were defending their goal and box.

There are enough opportunities for us to be comfortable. I can't really be upset with the players because of their attitude to press and their fitness.

The goal that never counted was very disappointing. The linesman gave a foul on the other side of the pitch and it was very disappointing.

What's next?

Both United and Hibs are playing on the same day.
