According to the Lawrence Journal-World, Jalon Daniels will be out of action for the rest of the season due to a shoulder injury.

The junior has been great to start the season, throwing for 1,072 yards, 11 touchdown and just one pick up, while completing 66.7% of his passes. He's also scored five times.

Lance Leipold told reporters on Tuesday that Daniels was questionable for Saturday's game.

"Jalon would probably be put in the doubtful area because he didn't practice today." I'm looking at it day to day, but haven't done anything yet, so I'm not going to comment at this time.

It's a blow for a Jayhawks team that has gotten off to a good start and is ranked 19th in the latest AP poll due to the strong play of Daniels. He sustained the injury when he was hit by a TCU player just before halftime of Kansas' 38-31 loss over the weekend.

The backup played well in the second half, finishing 16-of-24 for 262 yards and four touchdown while also rushing for 34 yards. He made a mistake in the third quarter that led to a touchdown for the Frogs.

In relief duty it was a strong appearance.

I think it's a credit to him. Leipold told reporters that they all know that. It wasn't just to appease him that I talked aboutBean in August.

Jalon Daniels is OFY ~ brutal blow for him, what a seasonBut this doesn’t wreck the Jayhawks like it would other teamsJason Bean is one of the FBS’ best QB2, and not much of a downgrade

Venables notes the speed and experience of Kansas backup QB Jason Bean with Jalon Daniels potentially sidelined in Week 7.

Either way, OU will have its hands full again Saturday.

The struggling Sooners are going to be Bean's next opponent. The Jayhawks will be favored to win against Oklahoma, but Bean will need to step up his game.

"You're always going to tinker with someone's strengths, but you know, the call sheet is the call sheet and we're going to do what we can to be as multiple as possible," Leipold said. "If he ends up being there for a while, I'm sure there are things he's more comfortable with than other plays, but again, that hasn't been a heavy dose of conversation yet."
