Lucy Bronze
Lionesses centurion Lucy Bronze threatened on the right as England struggled to break down the Czech Republic

Lucy Bronze made her 100th England appearance as the Lionesses' 15- match winning run came to an end with a draw against the Czech Republic.

Lauren James, who was making her full debut for her country, saw her fourth-minute shot cannon off a post and Lauren Hemp was also denied by the woodwork.

As England returned to the scene of their record-breaking win over Norway and dramatic quarter-finals victory against Spain, Bronze was hoping to celebrate her landmark in style.

The right-back was involved in several of England's best attacks against the Czech Republic side who had promised not to be intimidated by the occasion.

The result meant that England failed to win for the first time since a goalless draw against Spain in the Arnold Cup Clark in February.

Brilliant Bronze brings up her century

Lucy Bronze thought she would never get a chance to play on the right after making her England debut against Japan.

Bronze's perceptive passing, arrowed runs towards the penalty area and confident defensive work were a feature of the first half as England searched for an opener against opponents eager to impress the largest audience many of them had ever played in front of.

Simona Necidova raced in to whip the ball away just in time on one occasion when Bronze burst into the box, while an excellent crossfield delivery from Fran Kirby would have set her free beyond her marker.

Bronze was assured and accurate in her crossing, with her only moment of concern coming when she was floored by a robust challenge at the touchline.

Bronze revealed this week that she was told as a 20-year-old to expect her career to last seven more years because of four knee injuries she sustained as a teenager.

Bronze would have seen herself as the reigning England Player of the Year on her 28th birthday if she had a crystal ball.

Bronze's move to Barcelona seems to enhance her determination and keep her standards as high as she can be.

We should expect an England mainstay for the rest of the reign. She has said that she would like to emulate Brazil legend Formiga by playing until 43.

Compact Czechs cause conundrum

The challenge England faced in their 2-1 win over the USA at Wembley on Friday was always going to be different due to the fact that the Czech Republic was also present.

The visitors were on a three match winning streak and shared a 3-3 draw with Hungary on Friday thanks to a hat-trick from Sevilla's Staskova.

The visitors immediately subdued the atmosphere by going close after Terezawiec Szezkova's second goal in the 86th minute.

It was not possible for England to score, as they hit the post twice and saw Lukasova and her defenders prevent them from finding the net.

The match would have been more open if they had scored through that early chance.

The England manager wanted her players to test themselves against teams who would shut down space and give significant resistance.

They would drop a little deeper. We need to do a better job in those situations. It is a great learning moment for us.
